Rainforest Expeditions Guide

Hello! I’m Juan Carlos Yatto, an Environmental Interpreter Guide with more than 19 years of experience in the Tambopata National Reserve. Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to helping visitors discover the incredible diversity of the Amazon rainforest, with a special passion for birds and the stories that make this place unique.

My love for nature began through the teachings of my father, whose stories and knowledge of the forest shaped the way I see the Amazon today. I’m also deeply interested in traditional natural medicine, and I enjoy sharing both the ecological and cultural richness of Tambopata with every guest. For me, every walk through the forest is an opportunity to inspire respect, curiosity, and a deeper connection with nature.

One lesson I always share is that the forest should be entered with humility and respect. Before every excursion, I silently ask Mother Nature for permission and protection. It may be difficult to explain, but to me it is simply an expression of love and gratitude for the place I call home. I believe that when we approach nature with respect, it rewards us with unforgettable experiences.

Whether we are searching for colorful macaws, elusive forest birds, or simply listening to the sounds of the rainforest, my goal is to help every visitor experience Tambopata not only through their eyes, but also through their heart.
