Wow what an experience! If you want to be fully immersed in Amazon life in a wonderful , comfortable eco lodge, and not have expectations of a 5 star city hotel (I'm not sure why you would, but some reviewers seemed disappointed it wasn't!) you will love this. You will be in a group, 6 in ours, but you don't all have to do the same activities, you just join another group. Plenty of spaces to chill and downtime if you need it...its hot and humid! There's a fan in the room and I heard the superior rooms have a fan under the mozzie net. Take a torch! We were never bitten, used deet repellent only. They provide rubber boots if you want them, some of the trails were very muddy, but we managed in our walking boots. We loved the open wall to the jungle, despite some bugs, but not too many surprisingly. Sooooo much wildlife, all sorts of monkeys, otters, turtles, caiman, different birds, capybara etc. Luis M was our guide, a local, and he could spot a spider from 5 metres I'm sure... great sense of humour and a wealth of knowledge, loved him. We spent 3 nights 20th-24th April, it rained on a couple of occasions but not much. Perfect holiday for an immersive wildlife experience! Read all
Beautiful lodge in the rainforest, very well maintained and clean. We had a lot of fun and excellent guides. The rooms and facilities were top-notch! Read all
We stayed at Posada Amazonas Lodge in May 2026, and it was a truly unique experience. It’s important to note that the concept is unlike a traditional hotel: the rooms (the lodge has around 30 in total) are built entirely of wood and open completely to the rainforest, with no windows. The walls are about two meters high, and everything is open-air, meaning you can hear your neighbors as well as the sounds of the forest throughout the night. There is a hot-water shower with drainage flowing through wooden beams beneath the floor, and the beds are protected with mosquito nets. The food is delicious and nutritious, and one pleasant surprise was the excellent Wi-Fi connection (Starlink) available both at the lodge and on the boats. The logistics are flawless from the moment you land in Puerto Maldonado, including a short car ride (accompanied by a security company) followed by a forty-minute cruise along the Tambopata River. The staff is incredibly friendly. Our guide, Luis M. (a member of the local community that manages the lodge), was simply outstanding, with eagle-eyed vision for spotting wildlife and always wearing a smile. Tour highlights: Canopy Tower: a 42-meter tower rising above the treetops with panoramic views. We loved seeing the river, the rainforest, and even the distant Andes Mountains on the horizon. We returned at night during a nocturnal wildlife tour, where we spotted tarantulas, white sloths, and tree frogs. Lake Tres Chimbadas: a peaceful catamaran ride (without a motor) where Luis showed us a group of red-bellied monkeys, giant otters, and caimans. The scenery and tranquility are incredible. Trek to the “Great Tree”: a forest hike where we saw deer, jaguar tracks, a three-toed sloth, and more wildlife. At the end of the trail, we reached the gigantic ceiba tree: around 500 years old, approximately 60 meters tall, and with an impressive 11-meter base diameter. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience the true Amazon! Read all
This trip was the highlight of our travels through peru. The lodge was absolutely 5 stars for everything. The room, food, people. We had a private guide, Allen, who grew up locally and really had deep knowledge of the land, the history, and the variety of plant and animal species in the jungle. His knowledge and passion were invaluable to our experience. There are a variety of tour companies and lodges you can book to visit the Amazon, however, I would only recommend Rainforest Expeditions as they are truly connected to the community and offer high quality first class amazon experience! We had a wonderful rainforest experience. Getting close to nature whilst still having some home comforts . The beds were really comfortable with an excellent mosquito net system .we didn't have one bite. The guides are excellent and our group loved Hans who was wonderful and very knowledgeable. The food was good and we enjoyed a convivial dining experience. Read all
This place is absolutely fantastic! Without a doubt our favorite part of Peru. Not only was the lodge very comfortable with great service and food, it truly is in the jungle and full of adventure. It’s very get up and go with no wasted time, sometimes getting up at 4 am to hike. But this place is not a resort it’s an eco lodge in the jungle. If you’re looking for adventure this is the place to go. Our guide Rodolfo was so knowledgeable and could see animals from practically a mile away in the trees. We saw so many animals, insects, plants, and more and learned a lot about them. Rodolfo was great and so was the management, they were extremely accommodating and helpful when we had different departure plans from the rest of our group. I can’t recommend it enough! Read all
What a place. Even getting here was an adventure. We loved how well organised everything was. From being met at the airport all members of staff were so helpful and nothing was a problem. The boat ride to the lodge gives you an insight as to how good the next few days are going to be. It is about a 10 minute walk from the river and there are a few stairs but we soon got used to them. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. It is a little unnerving at first when you see how close you are to the forest and the animals but it is all part of the adventure. The communal areas of the lodge are very comfortable and a great place to hang out inbetween activities. It was always nice to come back to a cold drink and a slice of cake. Meals were all buffet style and there was always plenty of choice at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bar had a good selection of beers, wines and cocktails. The activities were what made our holiday and we had Rodolpho who was a great guide. He went at our pace and made sure we got the best out of each day. We saw some amazing animals as well as learnt alot about life for people who live in the Amazon. A great place that I would highly recommend people to go to. Read all
We had an absolutely fantastic time at the Rainforest Expedition lodges (we went to TRC and Posada). Everything from the communications and planning upfront, to the transport and logistics worked totally smooth. The lodges themselves are beautiful and give you a great starting point for all the trips while you still get the comfort and amenities of a nice (sustainable) hotel. The main draw of course is the jungle and the activities. We were in awe of the diversity of the ecosystem there and the simply stunning nature. Our guide Victor did an exceptional job of giving us the full rainforest experience and went to great lengths to show us the best spots for wildlife. We really enjoyed our time with him! Absolutely stunning experience!! Read all
We loved the service, they were always attentive to us, the food was delicious, a guy named Persi took great care of us, he was so lovely and treated his customers well. The rooms were the only downside, as they aren't very well protected and there were lots of animals in the room, which was difficult for someone who isn't used to that , but the food and service were the best, and the guide was also very good and always attentive. Rooms: There should be better protection because there were a lot of frogs in the room and a lot of bugs. Nearby activities: The activities were very, very good, and the guides were very attentive and explained everything. Safety: Very safe in terms of your personal belongings. Walkability: All day long, if you like. Food & drinks: Always fresh and delicious. Read all
We had such a wonderful visit that far exceeded our expectations. Everything was delightful and the employees all so warm and helpful. Amazing accommodations, food, beauty, experiences. We stayed four nights and did so many activities and saw so many birds, plants, flowers, otters, capybaras and monkeys. We experienced one of the cold fronts so the temperatures were so nice and they tucked a hot water bottle into our beds. Read all
